Deliberate practice is the focused acquisition of mastery in one’s field

Its techniques have been applied to the achievement of better client outcomes in psychotherapy

Learn how the Expressive Therapies Continuum can help level up your clinical effectiveness in art therapy

You did everything you needed to do in graduate school, but you aren’t sure you’ve got the right techniques to use in treatment

You’re wondering if the letters that come after your name are any guarantee that your client outcomes are what they should be. Imposter syndrome lurks around every corner. It’s hard to imagine a way past this, as you can’t figure out how to fine-tune your work with clients while swimming in a sea of voices that all claim to teach you yet one more technique that will make you shine like a clinical star.

You’d love to have a better way to make sense of what you’re doing with clients

You wish there was a framework that would hold together all your efforts and help you understand where your growing edge is, and such frameworks do exist. The Expressive Therapies Continuum is one such model—or so you’ve heard, but you’ve read about it and aren’t sure how to make it work for you.

I’m Megan, and I help therapists understand the nuances of the Expressive Therapies Continuum

I studied under the framework’s co-creators and learned how to use it for fine-tuning my clinical work and client outcomes, and now I share this with other therapists who are wondering about the model’s potential for improving their efforts to make a difference in the lives of others—and in their own confidence as helping professionals.  The Expressive Therapies Continuum pairs nicely with the targeted mastery of microskills in art therapy, which supports the reduction of imposter syndrome.

Are you ready to explore how the Expressive Therapies Continuum can level up your practice and show you new ways of thinking about what it means to create outcomes?

Please join me for 60 minutes that will help you understand the role of deliberate practice in outcome-informed treatment. What if the Expressive Therapies Continuum is the framework you’ve been waiting for to hold together all your efforts in client care and meet you at your growing edge?

Investment: $20.00 USD (Note: this program is not available for continuing education credit.)

  • identify five (5) major strategies of deliberate practice in psychotherapy.

Megan is licensed by the counseling boards in the U.S. states of Arizona, Indiana, and Texas, and she also holds board-certification status through the Art Therapy Credentials Board.  She has developed an online private practice using the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC), a nervous system-informed framework, as a basis for assessment, treatment planning, intervention, progress monitoring, and case conceptualization.  Megan earned her master’s degree in art therapy with a specialization in grief and medical counseling from the University of Louisville, where she studied under ETC co-creators Vija Lusebrink and Sandra (Kagin) Graves-Alcorn.

She has served on professional boards and committees at local, regional, and national levels.  A scholar at heart, Megan enjoys doing research, giving presentations, and writing about the Expressive Therapies Continuum. She is hopeful that a new generation of art and expressive therapists will have the opportunity to learn the ETC via methods similar to the ones her professors used.  Megan is currently developing a community of ETC enthusiasts and shares information with them through a monthly newsletter.  See https://www.meganvanmeter.com/for-expressive-therapists for more information.
